Habit

Money Game

In the past, I was a habitual player of pachinko and pachislot—a so-called “pachinko enthusiast.” However, recently, that habit somehow faded away. From the age of 19 until I was almost 50, I went to the pachinko parlor almost every day, but since my late 40s, I’ve completely stopped. I consider that a good thing.

In place of pachinko, I’ve recently started buying lottery tickets on a regular basis. Earlier this year, I won around 400,000 yen in the Numbers 4 lottery with a set straight bet, which was my first lottery win. I wonder if it was beginner’s luck, but it’s made me hopeful that I might win again.

A prize of 500,000 yen would bring some temporary happiness, but it wouldn’t change my life. However, a win of 200 million yen, for example, would change everything. With that ideal in mind, I keep trying my luck.

Today, I hadn’t planned to buy any tickets, but somehow I ended up getting one. And tomorrow is the draw for the Lotto 6 ticket I bought previously. I see small winnings as “seed money” that could accumulate little by little, so I’m going to continue with this approach, hoping for the best.
